Hip

Hip pain is one of the most debilitating orthopedic ailments often limiting one’s ability to perform simple tasks such as climbing stairs or walking.

Our doctors have extensive experience treating osteoarthritis or the wear and tear of the hip joints.   We often prescribe physical therapy, RICE (Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevate) treatment principles or medications which can help reduce symptoms of swelling, pain and stiffness.

If you have experienced a hip injury, our doctors are also fellowship-trained in sports medicine and can diagnose and treat all types of traumatic hip injuries that cause significant pain or instability.

Surgical Options/Patient Safety
According to the AAOS approximately 190,000 hip replacements are done each year in the U.S.*  When hip surgery is required, we incorporate a team approach for our patients.  With our over 50 staff members and through our affiliation with Jordan Hospital's Nurse Liason Program, each patients has a dedicated team of nurses and therapists with them from their initial diagnosis through their pre-op and post-op care.

All of us at Plymouth Bay Orthopedic Associates have patient safety as our number one priority.   Our doctors utilize the latest technological advancements in hip replacement surgery to reduce complications and facilitate a faster recovery.    We are also particularly proud that Jordan Hospital is among the top hospitals in Massachusetts with the lowest complication rate for hip replacement surgery.**

Our doctors perform the following surgical procedures for the hip:

  • Total Hip Replacements
  • Computer-Assisted Hip Replacements
