Knee

One of the most common ailments we see in our practice is knee pain.  People experience knee pain due to the wearing of cartilage around the knee joint.   At Plymouth Bay Orthopedic Associates, we often are able to effectively diagnose and treat knee arthritis, tendonitis and bursitis with non-surgical options including medications and physical therapy.

Our doctors are fellowship-trained in sports medicine and can diagnose and treat all types of knee injuries including meniscus and ligament tears.  We also specialize in Anterior Crucial Ligament (ACL) tears and perform ACL reconstruction surgery after a thorough diagnosis.  See our ACL Reconstruction patient animation and read our ACL Injury Prevention Guide.

Surgical Options/Patient Safety

When non-surgical options have been exhausted or when a knee injury is more severe, surgery may be the best option.  According to the AAOS, approximately 500,000 knee replacements are done each year in the U.S.*

When surgery is required, we incorporate a team approach for each of our patients.  With our over 50 staff members and through our affiliation with Jordan Hospital's Nurse Liason Program, each patient has a dedicated team of nurses and therapists with them from their initial diagnosis through their pre-op and post-op care.

All of us at Plymouth Bay Orthopedic Associates have patient safety as our number one priority.   Our doctors utilize the latest technological advancements in knee replacement surgery to reduce complications and facilitate a faster recovery.    We are also particularly proud that Jordan Hospital is among the top hospitals in Massachusetts with the lowest complication rate for knee replacement surgery.**

Our doctors perform the following surgical procedures for the knee:

  • Total Knee Replacements
  • Computer-Assisted Knee Replacements
  • “Minimally-Invasive” Total Knee Replacements
