Shoulder

According to the AAOS 7.5 million people went to the doctor's office for a shoulder problem in 2006.*  Shoulder pain can be caused be arthritis or an injury such as a torn rotator cuff, fracture or dislocation.  Severe shoulder pain or instability can lead to the inability to perform even simple task such as combing one’s hair.    Our doctors have extensive experience treating shoulder arthritis, often prescribing physical therapy, RICE (Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevate) treatment principles or medications which can help reduce symptoms of swelling, pain and stiffness.

If you have experienced a shoulder injury our doctors are fellowship-trained in sports medicine and can diagnose and treat all types of shoulder injuries.

Surgical Options

There have been numerous technological advancements recently around shoulder surgery that can greatly reduce complications and help facilitate a faster recovery.    One such procedure, a reverse shoulder replacement surgery has even helped those patients who have had failed shoulder replacement surgery in the past.  Less invasive treatments, such as shoulder arthroscopy have also proved quite successful in helping patients regain their range-of-motion.

Our doctors perform the following surgical procedures for the shoulder:

  • Total Shoulder Replacement Surgery
  • Reverse Shoulder Replacement Surgery
  • Shoulder Impingement Surgery
  • “Minimally-Invasive” Shoulder Reconstruction
  • Arthroscopic Rotator Cuff Repair
